Understanding Islams Stance on Alcohol

Understanding Islams Stance on Alcohol Liquor and different intoxicants are illegal in the Quran, as they are an unfortunate propensity that drives individuals from the recognition of God. A few unique sections address the issue, uncovered at differentâ times over a time of years. A total restriction on liquor is broadly acknowledged among Muslims as a major aspect of more extensive Islamic dietary law. Progressive Approach The Quran didn't prohibit liquor from the earliest starting point. This is viewed as a shrewd methodology by Muslims, who accept that Allah did as such in His shrewdness and information on human instinct stopping without any weaning period would be troublesome as it was so imbued in the public arena at that point. The principal refrain of the Quranâ on the point prohibited Muslims from going to petitions while inebriated (4:43). Curiously, a section uncovered from that point recognized that liquor contains some great and some malevolent, however the shrewdness is more noteworthy than the great (2:219). Subsequently, the Quran stepped toward guiding individuals from the utilization of liquor. The last section took an unequivocal tone, precluding it out and out. Intoxicants and rounds of chance were called horrifying presences of Satans craftsmanship, expected to dismiss individuals from God and disregard petition. Muslims were requested to go without (5:90â€91) (Note: The Quran isn't organized sequentially, so the refrain numbers are not arranged by disclosure. Later sections were not really uncovered after before refrains). Intoxicants In the principal refrain refered to over, the word for inebriated is sukara which is gotten from the word sugar and means alcoholic or inebriated. That section doesnt notice the beverage which makes one so. In the following stanzas refered to, the word which is frequently deciphered as wine or intoxicants is al-khamr, which is identified with the action word to age. This word could be utilized to portray different intoxicants, for example, brew, in spite of the fact that wine is the most widely recognized comprehension of the word. Muslims decipher these refrains together to prohibit any inebriating substance-whether it be wine, lager, gin, bourbon, and so on. The outcome is the equivalent, and the Quran diagrams that it is the inebriation, which makes one absent minded of God and petition, that is destructive. Throughout the years, the comprehension of inebriating substances has come to incorporate increasingly current road drugs and so forth. The Prophet Muhammad likewise trained his devotees at an opportunity to stay away from any inebriating substances-(reworded) on the off chance that it inebriates in a huge sum, it is illegal even in a limited quantity. Thus, most perceptive Muslims keep away from liquor in any structure, even modest quantities that are once in a while utilized in cooking. Purchasing, Serving, Selling, and then some The Prophet Muhammad additionally cautioned his adherents that taking an interest in the liquor exchange isâ forbidden, reviling 10 individuals: ...the wine-presser, the person who has it squeezed, the person who drinks it, the person who passes on it, the one to whom it is passed on, the person who serves it, the person who sells it, the person who profits by the cost paid for it, the person who gets it, and the one for whom it is purchased. Consequently, numerous Muslims will decrease to work in positions where they should serve or sell liquor. Sources and Further Reading Kamarulzaman, An., and S. M. Saifuddeen. Deadly Unna Essay

1. Portray the impression you type of Gary Black (Blacky) in the initial 4 to 5 parts of the novel. I get the feeling that Blacky has a timid, calm character and will in general remain quiet about his contemplations. He appears to be interested on the grounds that he poses a great deal of inquiries and furthermore restless on the grounds that he over thinks circumstances. 2. Blacky’s people group is actually separated into equal parts; the individuals who live in The Port and the individuals who live at The Point. Make a rundown of the highlights of the town that you think speak to life there and clarify explanations behind picking them. Blacky’s people group is a little, run downtown with little to do and nearly everybody knows one another. The Port is a drowsy waterfront town. In winter, the main activity around is the neighborhood football rivalry and in summer the activity rotates around the sea shore and the intrigue gave by the yearly campers. 3. Gary becomes progressively on edge as his football team’s Grand Final moves close. Talk about the reasons why Gary is so worried as of now. Gary is worried about the Grand Final since he is playing as the principal ruck and he isn’t an excessively capable football player. He needs to play against the Thumper on the other group and that alarms him on the grounds that the Thumper is exceptionally scary and could severely harm him on the off chance that he attempts to prevent him from getting an objective. Blacky likewise doesn’t need to be known as a ‘gutless wonder’ and that squeezes him to progress nicely. 4. Gary is something of the ‘team hero’ toward the finish of the Grand Final and is recognized with the club’s ‘Best Team Man’ grant for the season. Gary seems somewhat awkward with this acknowledgment, why? Gary is awkward about being granted the ‘Best Team Man’ grant since his sibling has won that grant each season, henceforth why that is his moniker. Blacky was likewise awkward with the honor since it didn’t plan to impede the Thumper, yet that’s not what everybody thought. 5. Clearly the issue of bigotry is a critical subject in Deadly Unna. Pick four scenes/occasions/cites from the content that you feel fill in as proof of the prejudice that exists in the network and give a short clarification of the explanation/s why you picked every one. Make certain to incorporate a section and page reference for every one of your models. Despite the fact that the Point was just a large portion of an hour’s drive for the Port, the two towns didn’t have a lot to do with each other aside from football. An increasingly inconspicuous indication of bigotry in the novel is the way the Nungas utilize one side of the change rooms and the Goonyas utilize the other, not forcibly, but since that’s simply the manner in which it was. In the event that prejudice didn’t exist, the Nungas and the Goonyas would have the option to utilize the change rooms together without feeling awkward or as though they were two distinct gatherings. ‘BOONGS PISS O FF’ was cut into the shed. Whoever composed this is clearly demonstrating bigotry, yet Gary likewise took an interest in the supremacist remark by not fixing it when he had seen it, when he as a rule fixes things he discovers hostile to individuals. At the point when Gary and Clarence were at the wharf, Gary chanced upon Darcy and had a discussion. During this, Darcy said to Gary, â€Å"Just an expression of guidance from an old bugger who’s seen some things in his day. You be cautious about these gins now, fellow. Pleasant young ladies, however they’ve all got the applaud. Each and every one of ‘em.† Darcy was being supremacist by summing up the female aboriginals, not taking into viewpoint that he didn't have a clue about every one of them by and by. At the bar, Mac made a quip to his clients, â€Å"Did ya hear the one about the boong and the priest?† He proceeds with the joke by saying, â€Å"And the cleric says to the truckie, don’t stress I got the dark charlatan with the door!† Although this activity isn’t as supremacist as making a wisecrack like that straightforwardly to an Aboriginal, yet it is still of obliviousness and prejudice. Additionally when everyone snicker s at the joke with the exception of Gary, who normally does, yet didn’t in view of Dumby, Clarence and Tommy. He had been able to know them and understood that bigotry isn't right. 6. Bounce Black every now and again portrays Gary similar to a gutless miracle. There is some recommendation that Gary concurs with this evaluation toward the beginning of the novel; do you despite everything imagine that he is a gutless marvel before the finish of the story? Make a rundown of the key venturing stones (occasions) in the story that you think outline (appear) Gary’s change from being a gutless marvel to a daring, autonomous youngster. Pick two venturing stones from your rundown and talk about why you think they are significant. I think toward the finish of the story Gary builds up much more fearlessness and free. I accept he turned into along these lines by winning the Grand Final for his group and getting acknowledged more by his companions, playing with that female camper Cathy and conflicting with his father’s wishes and going to Dumby Red’s memorial service. I picked the Grand Final since I think winning an award and being praised by numerous i ndividuals caused Gary to grow more trust in his self. I likewise picked when he went to Dumby’s memorial service in light of the fact that despite the fact that he wasn’t permitted to, he composed everything and faced the challenge of getting captured and confronting the results to take an interest in the burial service. I think this gave him more mental fortitude and to do what he accepted was correct and to esteem his own feeling. 7. Which relationship do you think has the most effect on Gary as an individual? Why? I think the connection among Gary and Dumby Red impacted him the most on the grounds that he changed Blacky’s sees on prejudice and instructed him to acknowledge and comprehend the Aboriginal culture and acknowledge how supremacist and critical individuals can be in the public eye. 8. When in the story do you think Gary begins acting freely? That is, he begins settling on his own choices instead of being affected by his assessments and wishes of other. Clarify your answer. I think the most huge piece of the story when Gary becomes free is the point at which he settles on the choice to escape and go to Dumby Red’s memorial service. 9. â€Å"Deadly Unna is the narrative of a youthful man’s mission to find who he truly is and what he accepts in.† Do you concur with this announcement? Clarify your answer. I concur with this announcement on the grounds that toward the beginnin g of the novel Gary is an anxious young person and before the finish of the novel he makes and cuts off associations, learns new ethics and qualities through various individuals, confides in himself to settle on his own choices and turns out to be increasingly free, valiant and builds up a progressively characterized, special character of his own. 10. The greater part of the grown-up characters in Deadly Unna appear to be defective here and there. Which of the grown-up characters do you consider to be the most meriting acclaim? Why? I think Dumby Red’s father merited the most acclaim since he was constantly kind to the network and demonstrated great habits to everybody not at all like the majority of the grown-ups in the novel. After his child was slaughtered, he indicated no indignation towards Blacky when he appeared for the memorial service, despite the fact that it is hard to demonstrate any compassion to somebody who lives in the Port on account of the bigotry and the undeniable explanation that his child was murdered there. 11. At the point when Blacky and his siblings and sisters paint over the bigot slur at the shed he comments; â€Å"It was gone. Not always, however for today anyway.† Why was he so goal on expelling the spray painting when he realizes that somebody is probably going to compose it once more? I think he was resolved to expelling the spray painting in light of the fact that despite the fact that somebody would compose it again one day, he had any kind of effect that night and stood firm against prejudice with his kin. On the off chance that a little gathering of individuals can change their view on prejudice, there is trust that an ever increasing number of individuals can. Additionally in light of the fact that he would have felt glad for his self and his family.

Biography of Marilyn Monroe, Model and Actress

Marilyn Monroe (born Norma Jean Mortenson; June 1, 1926–Aug. 5, 1962) was an American model turned singer/actress whose career spanned the late 1940s to the early 1960s. Monroe appeared in a number of what are now considered classic films prior to her unexpected death at age 36. Fast Facts: Marilyn Monroe Known For: Model, pinup, actressAlso Known As: Norma Jeane Mortenson, Norma Jeane BakerBorn: June 1, 1926 in Los Angeles, CaliforniaParents: Gladys Baker Mortenson; father unknownDied: Aug. 5, 1962 in Brentwood, CaliforniaEducation: Attended Van Nuys and University High School in Los Angeles, California; dropped out at 15Selected Films: Some Like It Hot, The Seven Year Itch, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, How to Marry a Millionaire, Bus Stop, The MisfitsAwards and Honors: Three Golden Globes, star on the Holly Walk of FameSpouse(s): James Dougherty (m. 1942–1946), Joe DiMaggio (m. 1954–1955),  Arthur Miller (m. 1956–1961)  Notable Quote:  I dont mind living in a mans world as long as I can be a woman in it. Early Life Monroe was born Norma Jeane Mortenson—and later baptized as Norma Jeane Baker—in Los Angeles, California to Gladys Baker Mortenson (nà ©e Monroe). No one knows the identity of Monroe’s biological father, but some biographers speculate it was Gladys’ second husband, Martin Mortenson, although they were separated prior to Monroe’s birth. Others have suggested Monroe’s father was a co-worker of Gladys’ at RKO Pictures named Charles Stanley Gifford. In any case, Monroe was regarded as an illegitimate child and grew up not knowing her father. As a single parent, Gladys worked during the day and left her daughter with neighbors. Unfortunately, Gladys was not well; she was in and out of mental hospitals until she was institutionalized at the Norwalk State Hospital for Mental Diseases in 1935. At age 9, Marilyn was taken in by Gladys’ friend Grace McKee. Within the year, however, McKee was no longer able to care for the girl and took her to the Los Angeles Orphanage. Monroe spent two years there and then lived in a succession of foster homes. Its believed that during this time, Monroe was molested. In 1937, 11-year-old Monroe found a home with â€Å"Aunt† Ana Lower, a relative of McKee’s, where she had a stable home life until Lower developed health problems. Subsequently, McKee arranged a marriage between 16-year-old Monroe and Jim Dougherty, a 21-year-old neighbor. The two were married on June 19, 1942. From War Bride to Model In 1943, as Americas involvement in World War II gripped the nation, Dougherty joined the Merchant Marines. He shipped out to Shanghai one year later. With her husband overseas, Monroe took a job at the Radio Plane Munitions Factory, where she was discovered by photographer David Conover who was taking pictures of women working for the war effort. Conover’s shots of Monroe appeared in Yank magazine in 1945. Impressed by what he saw, Conover showed Monroe’s photos to commercial photographer Potter Hueth. Hueth and Monroe struck a deal: Hueth would take pictures of Monroe, however, shed only be paid if magazines bought her photos. This arrangement allowed Monroe to keep her day job at Radio Plane and model at night. Hueth’s photos of Monroe piqued the interest of Emmeline Snively, the head of Blue Book Modeling Agency, the largest modeling agency in Los Angeles at the time. Snively offered Monroe a chance at a full-time modeling career—with the proviso that Monroe must attend Snivelys three-month modeling school classes.   Monroe agreed and was soon working diligently to perfect her new craft. While under contract to Snively, Monroe changed her hair color from light brown to blonde. Dougherty, who was still overseas, wasnt happy to learn about his wifes new line of work. The Transition from Modeling to Movies to Marilyn By this time, several photographers were taking pictures of Monroe for pinup magazines, often showcasing her hourglass figure in two-piece bathing suits. Monroe became so popular, her picture could be found on the covers of several pinup magazines in the same month. In July 1946, her photos attracted the attention of casting director Ben Lyon of 20th Century Fox who called Monroe for a screen test. In August, 20th Century Fox offered Monroe a six-month contract with an option to renew every six months. After Dougherty finished his tour of duty and returned stateside, he became increasingly frustrated by his wifes new career. The situation eventually came to a head and the couple divorced in 1946. Until that time, Monroe had been using her married name, Norma Jeane Dougherty, professionally. It was Lyon who helped her come up with her now legendary screen name by suggesting she take the first name of popular 1920s stage performer Marilyn Miller. Monroe adopted her mother’s maiden name for her surname, and the alliterative Marilyn Monroe was born. Career Struggles and Scandal Earning $75 per week, 20-year-old Monroe attended free acting, dancing, and singing classes at the 20th Century Fox studio. She appeared as an extra in a few movies and had a single line in the highly forgettable Scudda Hoo! Scudda Hay! (1948). When Monroes initial six months were up, her contract wasnt renewed. Monroe began receiving unemployment benefits and continued taking acting classes. Six months later, Columbia Pictures hired her as a $125-a-week contract player. Monroe was given second billing and a featured role in Ladies of the Chorus (1948) but despite positive reviews, her contract at Columbia wasnt picked up. In 1949, Tom Kelley, a photographer whod worked with Monroe previously, offered her $50 to pose nude for a calendar. Monroe, who was broke, agreed to take the job. Kelley subsequently sold the shots to Western Lithograph Co. for $900. The calendar, Golden Dreams, made millions. In 1952, word of Monroes nude photos surfaced, threatening to ruin her career. To combat the negative publicity, Monroe told the press about her troubled childhood. She revealed that shed posed for the photos when she was destitute, and never received as much as a thank-you note from the people who made so much money off her $50 humiliation. (In 1953, Hugh Hefner bought one of the photos for $500 and published it in his first issue of Playboy magazine.) Big Break When Monroe got wind that the Marx brothers needed a blonde for their new movie, Love Happy (1949), she auditioned and got the part. The role called for Monroe to sashay by Groucho Marx in a sultry manner and say, â€Å"I want you to help me. Some men are following me.† Although she was only on screen for 60 seconds and was paid, according to Marx, $100, Monroe’s performance caught the eye of the producer, Lester Cowan, who decided that Monroe should go on the five-week publicity tour for the film. Her bit part was also noted by major talent agent Johnny Hyde, who wrangled an audition for her at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer for a small part in Asphalt Jungle (1950). The film, directed by Oscar-winning actor/director/screenwriter John Huston, was nominated for four Academy Awards.  Although Monroe had only a minor role, it was a memorable one. Monroe’s performances, including a small but juicy turn in the Bette Davis classic All About Eve (1950), led studio executive Darryl Zanuck to offer her a contract to return to 20th Century Fox. When studio publicist Roy Craft capitalized on Monroes image as a pinup girl, the studio received thousands of fan letters, many eagerly wanting to know what Monroes next film appearance would be. Sensing a potential box-office goldmine, Zanuck ordered producers to find parts for her. She played her first leading role as a mentally unbalanced babysitter in Dont Bother to Knock (1952). Over the next two years, Monroe made some of her most memorable movies: Niagara (1953), Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953), How to Marry a Millionaire (1953), River of No Return (1954), and There’s No Business Like Show Business (1954). Marriage to Joe DiMaggio On January 14, 1954, legendary New York Yankees baseball star Joe DiMaggio and Monroe tied the knot. As two rags-to-riches kids, their marriage made headlines. DiMaggio was ready to settle down, but Monroe, who was set on a career and also had professional commitments, planned to continue acting while fulfilling a recording contract with RCA Victor Records. DiMaggio and Monroe’s troubled marriage reached a boiling point in September 1954 during the filming of The  Seven Year Itch,  which was released the following year. Monroe, who had top billing, was standing over a subway grate when a gust blew the skirt of her white dress into the air while excited onlookers whistled and clapped. Director Billy Wilder turned it into a publicity stunt and shot the legendary scene again. DiMaggio, who was on the set, flew into a rage. The couple separated and were divorced after only nine months of marriage. Career Transition and The Actors Studio Monroe was now a major movie star, but with the exception of Niagara, in which shed played a cunning murderess harkening back to classic noir films such as The Postman Always Rings Twice (1946) and Double Indemnity (1944), she was beginning to chafe at the limited range of roles she was being offered by the studio. Not content to be seen as merely a pretty face attached to a voluptuous figure, Monroe set her sights on becoming a serious actress. In 1954, at odds with her studio contract and seeking more control of her career, Monroe formed her own production company. The following year, she moved to New York City and enrolled at the prestigious Actors Studio run by Method Acting guru Lee Strasberg and his wife, Paula. The three formed a strong bond and a sometimes troubling symbiotic relationship that endured for the remainder of Monroes life. On the plus side, Monroes acting talents were honed and refined under Strasbergs tutelage. Critics generally agree that her performances were more powerful and nuanced thanks to the training she received. On the downside, Lee Strasberg was accused of playing on Monroes insecurities and exerting a Svengali-like influence over her both personally and professionally. For a time, Monroe actually moved into the Strasbergs Manhattan apartment, and when she did return to her film career, Paula notoriously accompanied her on every movie set—much to the dismay of directors including Laurence Olivier and George Cukor whose artistic sensibilities did not mesh with Method Acting. Marriage to Arthur Miller Monroes third marriage took place on June 29, 1956, when she wed noted American playwright Arthur Miller. Monroe converted to Judaism in order to marry Miller, who was of Polish-Jewish descent. (Monroe’s 1922 edition of the prayerbook, â€Å"The Form of Daily Prayers: According to the Custom of the German and Polish Jews sold at auction in 2018 for a total of $26,250. In 1999, a copy of â€Å"A Union Prayer Book for Jewish Worship† with the name â€Å"Marilyn Monroe Miller†Ã‚  inscribed on its cover sold for $19,250.) During her marriage to Miller, Monroe suffered two miscarriages and once again turned to sleeping pills to cope with her emotional turmoil. She also starred in two of her most legendary movies: Bus Stop (1956) and Some Like it Hot (1959). The latter netted her a Golden Globe Award for best comedy actress. Miller wrote the screenplay for The Misfits (1961) as a vehicle for Monroe. The film re-teamed Monroe with director John Huston and co-starred legendary leading man Clark Gable and fellow Actors Studio alum Montgomery Clift. (The Misfits marked the final screen appearances for Monroe and Gable; Clift died of a heart attack five years later in 1966 at age 45.) During filming in Nevada, Monroes frequent illnesses held up production. Monroes condition was exacerbated by the consumption of sleeping pills and alcohol. She was eventually hospitalized for what was then termed a nervous breakdown. Monroe and Miller ended their five-year marriage after the completion of the film. Downward Spiral On February 2, 1961, Monroe was admitted to Payne Whitney Psychiatric Hospital in New York. DiMaggio flew to her side and had her moved to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, where in addition to psychiatric treatment, she also underwent gall bladder surgery and lost a substantial amount of weight as a result. DiMaggios attentiveness to Monroe during her illnesses triggered rumors that the couple might reconcile. Near the end of April 1962, Monroe was scheduled to begin shooting Something’s Got to Give, a film comedy helmed by veteran director George Cukor and co-starring Dean Martin and Wally Cox. Due to a serious sinus infection, Monroe was unable to report for work, so Cukor was forced to shoot around her as much as he could. Despite her illnesses, on May 19, 1962, Monroe, wearing a sheer, flesh-colored, rhinestone-studded dress, sang â€Å"Happy Birthday, Mr. President† at a Madison Square Garden Gala for President John F. Kennedy. Her sultry performance sparked rumors that the two were having an affair, followed by a subsequent rumor that Monroe was also having an affair with the President’s brother, U.S. Attorney General Robert Kennedy. When Monroe returned to California to resume shooting Somethings Got to Give, her health had not improved. Further prolonged absences from the set led 20th Century Fox to fire her and file suit for breach of contract. While she was eventually rehired, the film was never finished. Death Monroes reliance on sleeping pills and alcohol has been documented, yet it was still shocking when the 36-year-old was found dead in her Brentwood, California home on August 5, 1962. The coroners death certificate lists Monroes cause of death as acute barbiturate poisoning, ingestion of overdose (later determined to be a combination of Nembutal and chloral hydrate, a knockout drug commonly known as a Mickey Finn). After an autopsy, Monroes body was released to DiMaggio and a private funeral was held. Conspiracy Theories The death of Marilyn Monroe has spawned its own fertile mythology. While the coroner labeled her death a â€Å"probable suicide† and closed the case, there was no definitive proof that Monroe took her own life. Some sources close to the actress contested the finding. The question of whether or not the actress ingested the drugs has been a topic of debate since, according to the autopsy report, no trace evidence of Nembutal was found in her urine. (Had she swallowed a sufficient number of pills to result in an overdose, its argued that the coloring from the capsules should have been evident.) According to John W. Miner, one of the members of the autopsy team, relevant evidence including Monroes stomach contents, organ samples, and pertinent smear materials went missing and were never found. He concluded, however, that the high concentration of narcotics in Monroes liver suggested that the fatal dosage had been delivered via suppository rather than ingestion. So while some speculate Monroe died from an accidental overdose, others believe she was murdered. One scenario suggests Monroe was silenced to stop her from revealing intimate information on her alleged liaisons with President Kennedy and his brother Robert; another posits her death was an organized hit by the mob. In this version, Robert Kennedy was said to have been with Monroe in the hours prior to her death. Framing him for her murder would derail the escalating war against organized crime the Attorney General was waging, however, the scene was supposedly sanitized by government-sanctioned cleaners before RFK could be implicated. While several sources have confessed to participating in the hit, theres no conclusive proof to support such claims. The events of Monroes final hours will likely remain a mystery, however, those who believe she was murdered say the missing autopsy evidence points to a well-choreographed coverup. Legacy Decades after her death, Marilyn Monroes incandescent performances along with her personal backstory continue to captivate the publics imagination. The iconic picture of Monroe standing over the subway grate in The Seven Year Itch—ironically the last straw in her troubled marriage to Joe DiMaggio—is easily one of the most recognizable images in the landscape of modern popular culture. Along with Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley, and Elizabeth Taylor, Monroe is one of the most prominent delebs (a term coined by the entertainment industry in connection with deceased celebrities whose estates continue to generate substantial revenues after the celebrity has passed away) in the world. With the aid of CGI (computer-generated imagery), in 2011 Monroe appeared in an ad alongside Grace Kelly, Marlene Deitrich, and Charlize Theron for Christian Diors perfume JAdore. Three years later, Chanel No. 5 tapped Monroe as their celebrity spokesperson—this time, thanks to archival footage, and more accurately, since Chanel No. 5 was Monroes signature scent—five decades after her death. But theres more to Monroes legacy than just the licensing of her image and a catalog of classic films. One of a cadre of mid-century zaftig screen sirens that included Jayne Mansfield and Mamie Van Doren, as she matured, only Monroe was able to shatter the stereotype of dumb blonde by reinventing the trope as something more complex and three-dimensional—a human being worth knowing. Monroes humanity and vulnerability are two traits cited by film historians that clearly come across in a number of her most memorable film portrayals. In addition to her undeniable allure, the little girl lost quality she never fully outgrew onscreen is ultimately what many believe makes Monroes performances magnetic, irresistible, and ultimately enduring. Even with its many leaders and innovators, it wouldn’t have been nearly as effective had it not been for Alain LeRoy Locke: black writer, philosopher, and teacher who influenced black artists to look to African sources for pride and inspiration. Without Locke’s contribution, the Renaissance would not have flourished as much as it did, and black pride would have taken longer to develop and accept. At this time, they were referred to among the polite white company as Negroes. They were discriminated under the Jim Crow laws, named after a 19th century black character played by a white man, whom regarded whites as his superiors. Strategic Management for Cost and Viability - myassignmenthelp

Question: Discuss about theStrategic Management for Cost and Viability. Answer: Introduction: The case study demonstrates the growing use of crypto currencies along with its reason for evolution. There are three types of crypto currencies that comprise of Bitcoin, darkcoin and Ethereum. In this current study, resources and capabilities of small home users are compared with than of large commercial factories. Cost and viability of Bitcoin along with threat of crypto currencies are depicted. Later part of report deals with discussion of Chinese government efforts in crypto currencies and their implication in world wide. Strategic background: Financial institutions serves as the trusted third parties for processing electronic payments. However, this trust-based model suffers from some inherent weakness for some transactions. There were payment and cost uncertainties that limited the transaction size and reducing the small transactions possibilities (Zhang and Song 2014). In such scenario, it was required to avoid payment and cost uncertainties by using a communication channel that does not require any trusted party. This called for the development of electronic payment system that was based on cryptographic proof that facilitates transaction between two parties directly instead of creating trust. This has led to the evaluation of crypto currency and one of the most famous example of an emerging technology network for improving banking is Bitcoin. Crypto currencies can be defined as a financial animal that leads to secured money storage, decentralized and transferring of money that is enables by internet facility (zerohedg e.com 2017). This results in instance of money between two parties without any cost. Strategic environment: Strategic environment of crypto currencies using PESTLE analysis of the case: Political factors- There is not any government body controlling crypto currencies and they are usually allocated between private entities. Ability of federal government to conduct monetary policy becomes limited by crypto currencies. The competitive behavior of Crypto currencies market would be enhanced through regulatory bodies. Regulatory effort can be hindered due to decentralized nature of coin hinders. Environmental factors- Market of Crypto currencies requires computational power with increase in demand. An alternative sources of energy is required for reducing the emission of carbon. The larger monetary environment is considerably different from crypto currency and compared to conventional currencies, there are several advantages of crypto currencies that has resulted grown in usage and utility. Sustainability of network of Bitcoin is affected by the environment factor that influence legacy of wealth and monetary system. It is required by Bitcoin miners to have efficient equipment for reducing environmental impact. Electricity cost of Bitcoin mining is estimated at $ 70712000 per year. Miners are required to ascertain an alternative source of energy that would minimize costs. Social factors- The social-cultural factor is one of the driving forces of crypto currencies market that involves reach, anonymity and savings. There is low level of awareness and usage of such currencies among people. However, there can be adoption of using such currencies among customers if such payment technology is adopted by more merchant. Operations of Crypto currencies is supported by the political environment of respective countries (Vitris et al. 2017). Nonetheless, the effectiveness of business in the industry is threatened as the regulations is not intensive their war on cybercrime. Technological factors- Firms adopting the payment system of crypto currencies would have concern about internet security. The future of crypto currencies market is impacted by technological development and internet innovations encourage adoption of such payment system. Bitcoin is considered to be in the first few stage of enthusiast of innovation. Cyber security is one of the issue that is affecting crypto currencies market. Technological life cycle (Source: Luther 2016) Legal factors- The unexplored and evolving nature of crypto currencies results in increased concern about undertaking of illegal activities and the usage of such currencies would result in security issue. It is regarded as one of the major concern of government and investors. Future of usage of crypto currencies is dependent upon regulatory and legal configuration that helps in defining the use of such system in each countries (Peters et al. 2015). Economic factors- One of the positive indicator of crypto currencies market is the recovery of global and US economy. Increased level of economic activities is likely to positively affect the market. Competitive environment: The competitive environment of crypto currencies is analyzed using porters five forces of the given case: Suppliers bargaining power- The bargaining power of suppliers in crypto currency market is determined by the degree to which the suppliers has control over capability or technology that make switching expensive or difficult. Supplier power is determined if large number of suppliers are required to produce product. Bargaining power of suppliers in crypto currency market is lower and the market is positively affected by lower switching cost (Carroll and Bellotti 2015). Buyers bargaining power- The bargaining power of Bitcoin is low as the highest quality technology is provided at lower cost. Threat of new entrants- The value of Bitcoin is positively impacted by e commerce potential and it can be seen that there is high entry barriers. Entry barriers of Bitcoin is high that is likely to positively affect the crypto currencies (Elendner et al. 2016). This is so because new competitors faces difficulties ion entering the market. Threat of Substitutes services or Products- As compared to current payment system that requires multiple verification system leading to incurring cost in such procedures and this end up making transactions costly. Bitcoin intends to minimize this cost and in this regard, it can be see that there is lower threats of substitutes (Bitcoin.org 2017). Rivalry among existing among competitors- Exit barriers of Bitcoin is low and Bitcoin is positively impacted by low exit barriers. The profit of firms in the currency market would increase if there exist low exit barriers. Strategic analysis: Comparison of capabilities and resources required to mine crypto currency by small home users and large commercial factories: Large commercial factories are required to make additional investments in the area of mining of crypto currency resulting from decreasing lifespan of mining hardware. Significant resources are taken up by supply chain, thermal and power design, logistical and administrative overhead in the mining process. Additional resources are required for mining crypto currencies enable users to purchase mining capacity of hardware in data centers. Bitcoin mining in large commercial factories is done using cloud and it does not requires them to manage software, hardware, electricity and bandwith along with some offline issues (abc.net.au 2017). Mining devices are required to keep in cool for which cooling energy is required by organization and commercial factories. Cooling electricity overhead can be reduced substantially due to implementation of different technologies. Influence on development of protocol is lower for small miners as compared to large miners. Small miners are mainly concerned about price drop in crypto currency and large factories are concerned about fierce competition among the same crypto currency miners. Centralization of hashing power another capability that is required by commercial power in the geographical area. Small home users rare required to have a registered legal personality and they are required to possess greater ability to influence the development of protocol. Large commercial factories has a diversified range of activities and the resources required are comparatively higher as against small home users that have a single section of mining value. Large miners are required to have their own value chain by running their own pool, hardware and mining facilities. They are required to have proper dealing with hydroelectric power electric stations that would enable them to access to cheap electricity (Biggs 2017). However, small home users are required to implement efficient software for mining of crypto currenc y. Cost and viability of mining bitcoin: Cost of mining of Bitcoin should take into consideration several parameters such as hardware cost, electricity cost and several other variables impacting the project. In the last few months, there has been fall in value of Bitcoin. An extreme low is registered by the Bitcoun exchange with the value falling from $ 1100 in year 2013 compared to $ 200 in the current period. The longevity of Bitcoin is dependent upon the direct support from community many from mining apart from it adoption on global scale. The mining growth in Bitcoin industry has detrimental effect resulting from certain cost that is required to sustain concerning this mining activity. Infrastructure of miners for continuing operations forms the basis of crypto currency. Mining cost is not cast in stone that has led to putting down of tools by miners. The process of mining has become less costly resulting from implementation of software and hardware. Cost of mining has reduced significantly due to usage of solar generat ors and electricity from winds. It is clearly indicated that life of crypto currencies does not have long life and it is regarded that mining is not expensive. In the event of price going down, until there is an improvement in price, holding onto Bitcoin is the option of miners. In mining, rewards forms the basis of investment to people rendering services in solving mathematical issues. Therefore, for aligning data and updating it along with healthy keeping of public ledger. Moreover, a rational investor is highlighted by law of economics that an investor would be involving in production activities when returns generated is more than efforts in short and long-term (Guadamuz and Marsden 2015). Criminal usage of crypto currencies: The main concern about crypto currencies is related with security as virtual money can be used for funding illegal activities and can fuel thieves and hackers. Bitcoin transaction has the possibility of drawing criminal activities. It is likely to have considerable inducement to criminals from the anonymous transactions of crypto currencies. There are several elements involved in the thefts of crypto currencies such as terrorist organization and hackers. Cybercrimes would be fueled by the virtual currencies as it conceals identities by evading enforcement of law. Some of the programs in newer system like Ethereum makes it executable forever and money are transferred in arbitrarily complex ways. In this situation, hackers are able to exploit the complicated ways of handling money. Threat of Crypto currencies to hard currency banks: Crypto currencies are one of the virtual currencies that are driven by technology and in many events, they are not connected to central issuing authorities. The real threat to the hard currency banks resulting from crypto currencies is their capability to collect taxes that will be incurred on transactions along with their ability of law enforcement to fight crime that has been transacted in such currency. Established money bank has been posed with a threat from crypto currencies as it results considerable policy issues along with vulnerability to cyber-attacks, counterfeiting and privacy. In order to improve the existing payment system, innovations of central banks could throttle. Given the market growth, it is urgently required by banks to have regulated clarity. There are many abuses of virtual money that involves sale of illegal goods and criminal money laundering (Gamble 2017). Regulation of digital currencies are not regulated by banks and unregulated digital currencies has led to evolving of crimes and speculations. Chinese government interest in crypto currency and implication of worldwide interest: In china, crypto currencies have gained publicity resulting from stringent actions taken by government concerning Yuan. Crypto mining in China is facilitated by abundance availability of hardware and cheap energy. Currency turbulence further amplify the adoption of crypto currency. Crypto currencies has been viewed as one of the stable assets and people are willing to make investment in this sort of currency. Most of mining facilities are hosted by China that make use of highest power consumption for mining of crypto currency. Facilities of mining in China are concentrated in remote areas where land and electricity are available at cheaper cost (Rose 2015). The adoption of Crypto currencies by China and japan has generated success worldwide and the popularity and value of virtual currencies have improved. Limits of currency piled by consumers in highly speculative market is minimized by the adoption of crypto currencies. Conclusions: From the above analysis, it can be concluded that one of the most widely used currencies are crypto currencies and they have some shortcomings. Central banks are faced with the challenge of monitoring the payment system and one of the major concern is losing the money control system with the usage of this virtual currency. Mining costs of crypt currency is variable, however, the implementation of software and hardware has contributed to reducing the cost considerably. Performance of crypto currencies in most of countries as well as in gabling market are adversely impacted by various factors impacting cost of mining. References: ABC News.
